Accreditation Information

North Central Surgical Center is accredited by The Joint Commission. By demonstrating compliance with The Joint Commission's national standards for health care quality and safety, North Central Surgical Center has earned The Joint Commission's Gold Seal of Approval™.

Founded in 1951, The Joint Commission is dedicated to continuously improving the safety and quality of the nation's health care through voluntary accreditation.  The Joint Commission's on-site survey of North Central Surgical Center occurred in August.

"Above all, the national standards are intended to stimulate continuous, systematic and organization-wide improvement in an organization's performance and the outcomes of care," says Darlene Christiansen, executive director, Hospital Accreditation Program, Joint Commission. "The community should be proud that North Central Surgical Center is focusing on the most challenging goal -- to continuously raise quality and safety to higher levels."

The accreditation is proof of an organization-wide commitment to provide quality care on an ongoing basis

Ongoing Surveys
The Joint Commission performs unannounced surveys of the hospital to verify compliance with the standards.  The purpose of these surveys will be to evaluate the organization’s compliance with nationally established Joint Commission standards. The survey results will be used to determine whether, and the conditions under which, accreditation should be awarded the organization.

Joint Commission standards deal with organization quality, safety-of-care issues, and the safety of the environment in which care is provided. Anyone believing that he or she has pertinent and valid concerns about such matters that the hospital has not satisfactorily addressed, is encouraged by the hospital to contact the Joint Commission. Information presented will be carefully evaluated for relevance to the accreditation process. Such information should be addressed to:
